The Bottom, Saba: July 25, 2005
Monday afternoon was a joyous occasion
for the members of the Saba Lions Club and also for First Caribbean Bank
Card Service.
First Caribbean Bank Assistant Customer Service Manager Mrs. Maureen
Kingsale had the honors in presenting to the chairlady of the Saba Lions
Club Ms. June Every a huge cheque of US$ 5000.00 for the celebration of the
Saba Summer Festival Grand Weekend Parades.
First Caribbean Bank is the largest sponsor for this year Saba Summer
Festival. For the Lions Club members it was a heartfelt moment to be able to
accept such a huge donation towards the 30th anniversary of Saba Summer
Festival. All members of the club in attendance was happy with this
donation.
The Saba Lions Club has been involved with Carnival for some 18 years and
called it a day in 1998 but seeing that the island was celebrating its 30th
anniversary the Lions Club decided to make a return and host the weekend
grand parades etc.
With this grand donation First Caribbean Bank Card Services is the largest
donor towards carnival in many years.
Assistant Customer Service Manager Mrs. Kingsale also said that her bank
will be also having a special Credit Card promotion allowing customers who
sign up during the carnival to get their annual fee waived for the 1st year.
Mrs. Kingsale further stated that First Caribbean Bank Card Services would
like to extend a Happy Saba Summer Festival to one and all and encourage
them to look out for their T-shirts and variety giveaways during the
upcoming grand carnival weekend parades.
Representing the bank at the presentation were amongst Mrs. Kingsale, Ms.
Maritsa Riley who holds the position at the bank as Customer Service Officer
and Mrs. Malusca Baker who holds the position of Customer Service
Representative.
Representing the Saba Lions Club at the ceremony were President Ms. June
Every, Immediate Past president Ms. Caroline Johnson, 2nd Vice president and
Treasurer Mr. Steve Hassell, Lions Carnival spokeswoman Mrs. Rose Zagers,
Lion Franklin Johnson, Lion Franklin Wilson and Lion Chester Zagers.
The presentation was done outside of the Eugenius Johnson Center in
Windwardside. It would be very much appreciated by the members of the Lions
Club if some other institutions doing business on the island would now match
the donation of First Caribbean Bank Card Services.
All proceeds that is generated by the Lions Club will go to help cover the
cost for all the trophees and the bands that will be performing during the
grand carnival parade on Saturday and Sunday.
President of the Saba Lions Club Ms. June Every thanked and congratulated
the management and staff of First Caribbean Bank Card Servcie for their
generous donation, I feel honored today as president of our club to accept
this grand donation towards our Saba Summer Festival grand parade weekend.
We promised the people of Saba that we would do something for the 30th
anniversery and here we are doing exactly what our motto says, We Serve. I
would like to wish each and every Saban and also our many visitors to the
island a safe and happy 30th anniverary and let us all have fun. I am also
inviting our fellow Lions from around the region to come and spend the big
weekend with us and let us all show that as Lions we are there to serve our
community Ms. Every said.
