On Monday morning the official ground breaking ceremony for theCruijff Court on Saba was carried out in the presence of Dutch State Secretary of
Sports, Jet Bussemaker, Mr. Johan Cruijff, Lt. Governor of Saba, Mr. Sydney Sorton,Commissioner of Sports Mr. Bruce Zagers and Commissioner Chris Johnson and severalmembers of the State Secretary delegation and also members of the CUS, and board
members of the Johan Cruijff Foundation. A group of school children that traveled to Aruba over the weekend was also on hand to witness the groundbreaking ceremony. Several parents also showed up as well as members of the Man-O-War Foundation, Mr.
Dave Levenstone, Mr. Julius Robinson and Mrs. Verna Robinson. Regretably the Chairman of the Man-O-War Foundation Mr. Will Johnson was uanble to be present dueto the fact that he is presently off island.
State Secretary of Sports Jet Bussemaker said that she was happy to be apart of theground breaking ceremony and she looks forward in returning to the island for theofficial opening of the Cruijff multi purpose court in the future. Mr. Johan Cruijff
also said that he was very happy to be able to also contribute towards the development of Sports on the island and especially for the youth of the island. Commissioner of Sports on Saba Mr. Bruce Zagers also spoke and said that he was
happy to be part of this historic ground breaking ceremony and he looks forward inthe work starting within short in order that the youth of the island would have amuch larger area for them to practice different sports on the island. My emphasis at
this time is on trying to bring sports up to another level on the island and I have much interest in developing sports for the community of Saba.
