19 civil servants Saba take the oath of office

On Thursday afternoon a total of 19 persons took the oath of office before Lt. Governor Sydney Sorton at the Government Administration Building in The Bottom. Present for the ceremony were Lt. Governor Sydney Sorton, Commissioners Chris Johnson and Bruce Zagers, Head of Personnel and Orgainzational Affairs, Mrs. Marva Donker and the Island Secretary Menno van der Velde.

Lt. Governor Sorton before administering the oath of office pointed out to the civil servants that it is a privilege to become a civil servant and he urged the civil servants to try and live up to the rules and regulations and he pointed out to them that within government there is a thing that is called the LMA and he told them to use that as the bible. In the LMA there are rights and obligations and all civil servants should do their utmost best to live up to what is expected of them. he quoted article 46 and 47 to them.

Also addressing the civil servants were Commissioner Chris Johnson who told the civil servants that there will be changes coming and he made mention that it is expected that all civil servants should try and get their act together for the many changes that will be coming about. Our people have always shown that they have pride in the island. We have worked hard over the years and I look forward in us all working together as a proud people in the interest of our island.

Commissioner Bruce Zagers also called on the civil servants to show seriousness towards their jobs and live up to the rules and regulations. Both Commissioners along with the Lt. Governor congratulated the civil servants and wished them many years of good working relationship.

The civil servants that took their oath of office are presently employed at the following departments, A. M. Edward's Medical Center, Department of Public Works, Juancho Yrausquin Airport, Planning Bureau, Security Department, Fire Department and Government Administration Building. The civil servants that took the oath of office are Cyril Hassell, Brandon Hassell, Anna Hodge-Barnes, Roekje Simmons, Marcel Peterson, Charles Hassell, Aldo Jones, Cecile Robinson, Samuel Aladi, Sandra Caines, Luis Colorado, Alvero Diaz, Jenny Diaz, Antonio Kingsale, June Hassell, Confesora Adames, Alistar Hassell and Jasmat Dasrat.
