Former Tumba king of Curacao Mr. Reiner Lijfrock recently paid a working visit to
the island of Saba and during his stay was able to do a performance for several
persons at a reception in honor of the Minister Omayra Leeflang and the
representatives of UNESCO at the official residence of the Lt. Governor of Saba.
Mr. Lijfrock in introducing himself made it clear that he has his roots in Saba
also, and he was extremely happy to be on the island for the very first time. I have
heard so much about the island and I am happy that I have finally made it to Saba.
He performed some 4 songs for the many persons that were in attendance at the
reception. He promised to return to the island and during the reception its was
announced that the will be returning in July to form part of the island annual Saba
Summer Festival.
Mr. Lijfrock delivered three of his tumba songs and one of his calypso songs as he
also sings calypso and has competed on Curacao in the annual calypso competition and
has one the crown also.
