The Lt. Governor's regular meeting was held on Saba last week at Queen's Garden Resort. the Lt. governor's of St. Maarten and St. Eustatius were in attendance. The Lt. Governor's of Bonaire and Curacao was unable to attend the meeting due to other pressing matters on their respective islands.

For Lt. Governor Sydney Sorton of Saba this was his final meeting of the Lt. Governor's due to the fact that as of July 2nd he will be stepping down from the position. According to Lt. Governor Sorton the meeting dealt with several important points, such as the naturalization process, immigration affairs, police affairs, the constitutional changes, law and order, human trafficking etc. Lt. Governor Sorton said that he considered his last meeting very important and together the three Lt. Governors were able to discuss in length.

Sorton went on to say that he has enjoyed the good cooperation from his colleagues from the other islands. We have held several positive meetings over the years. I have enjoyed the hosting these type of meetings on Saba also and exchange ideas on how many things could have been done. Sorton thanked his colleagues from the Windward Islands but said that he could not let the opportunity pass him by in also thanking his colleagues from Curacao and Bonarie for the good working relationship that he has enjoyed during the last two years. Together we have been able to achieve many things in the general interest of all five islands. This time around the Governor General and the Minister of Justice were unable to attend but nevertheless we did discuss several points tht regarded them.
