Newly appointed Lt. Governor of Saba Mr. Jonathan Johnson arrived back on the island
on Tuesday afternoon from Curacao where he took the oath of office before the
Governor General of the Netherlands Antilles Mr. Frits Goedgedrag and in the
presence of his parents and the Prime Minister of the Netherlands Antilles Mrs.
Emily de Jongh-Elhage on Monday morning.
Mr. Johnson was welcomed back to the island by outgoing Lt. Governor of Saba, Mr.
Sydney Sorton, Commissioner Chris Johnson, Island Council members Rolando Wilson and
Carl Buncamper, Airport Manager Mr. Vincent Hassell and Chief Protocol Officer Mr.
Dave Levenstone, and family and friends and a group of students from the Saba
Comprehensive School.
Before assuming the position of Lt. Governor of Saba Mr. Johnson served as Director
of the Saba Comprehensive School for the past 4 years. Mr. Johnson will take over
the reigns on Saba as of July 2nd 2008.
Commissioner Bruce Zagers could not be present due to being off island and Island
Council member and leader of the opposition Ms. Akilah Levenstone was unable to be
present due to illness.
