Commissioners Johnson and Zagers in St. Kitts on working visit

July 15, 2008

bron Saba News Agency

Commissioners Chris Johnson and Bruce Zagers left Saba on Sunday afternoon for the Federation of St. Kitts and Nevis. The Commissioners are accompanied by the Managing Director of Saba Telephone Company N.V. Ms. Jennifer Zagers, member of the supervisory board of directors of Saba Telephone Company N.V. Mr. Joseph Hassell and acting Managing Director Mr. Tim van Oosteren.

On Monday morning both Commissioners Johsnon and Zagers had a tour of the J.N France Hospital on St. Kitts and in the afternoon the entire Saban delegation met with the Junior Minister with responsibilities for Telecommunication Mr. Nigel Carty to discuss common interest in the area of Telecommunications. Saba is busy looking at all avenues in the area of telecommunications and decided to visit St. Kitts to hold discussions with the government of St. Kitts. The delegation will be also visiting the Fisheries project on St. Kitts as well as areas of agriculture. The delegation is expected to return to the island on Wednesday afternoon.

Over the years Saba has built up a good working relationship with the government of St. Kitts and the present government of Saba is also working towards continuing those contacts. The former government of Saba under the leadership of former Commissioners Will Johnson and Lisa Hassell had paid many visits to the Federation of St. Kitts and had been able to make good contacts there in various areas. It is expected that the delegation will also meet with the Prime Minister or the deputy Prime Minister on Tuesday.
