After an absence of more than five years the Saba Government will be participating in the trade mission under the heading of "Doing Business in the Kingdom of the Netherlands".
The event is once again being organized by the company InterExpo Caribbean N. V. which is based on the island of Curacao.
InterExpo Caribbean N .V. organizes unique trade missions in the Dutch Antilles, Aruba and the Netherlands.
The event will act as stimuli for business developers to get acquainted on the new business opportunities that are on offer at present but also those that will become a reality during the transitional phase of the constitutional restructuring and once the new constitutional structures have been realized within the Kingdom of the Netherlands.
This year's event, the 7th edition, will be held in the Port City of Rotterdam over a four day period, November 16th 2008 through November 19th 2008.
One of the main goals of the event is to bring together businesses from the Kingdom of the Netherlands and from around the globe to share interesting aspects of their respective business activities.
Another important goal is the aspect of 'matchmaking' where business partners and potential clients are brought together. These partners can be potential buyers, agents acting as importers or representatives in a foreign market, or a close association formed to jointly develop and promote a product or service. It is in the latter area that the government of Saba has its greatest interest. The goal of Saba's government is to promote investment on the island in the areas where there is a need for, or a demand for improvement or even the betterment of a service. These investments must be sustainable, in the interest of the general population, and in the best interest of the island's well being.
Island Council Member Carl Buncamper will be attending the trade mission on behalf of the Saba Government and much matchmaking is already taking place in preparation for the event in the areas that have been expressed as 'opportunistic' for the island of Saba when taking into consideration the general interest and well being of Saba and its inhabitants.
Areas that will be explored are agriculture, building & material, environment, education, renewable energy; transport (Air-Sea-Land) just to name a few. Several of the matchmaking encounters will be done in collaboration with our sister island St. Eustatius as in certain areas this can be beneficial to both islands.
During the event several congresses will be organized with themes such as "Restructuring of the Netherlands Antilles as part of the Dutch Kingdom" and "Sustainable Economic Developments within the Kingdom of the Netherlands". During the congress on Tuesday November 18th 2008, representatives of the BES islands will have the opportunity to speak to the participants at the event.
Further information on the 7th Doing Business in the Kingdom of the Netherlands trade mission can be found on their website www.interexpo.biz .
Upon completion of the 7th Doing Business in the Kingdom of the Netherlands" event Island Council Member Carl Buncamper will join his colleagues for the remainder of the BES Week meetings and activities being held in The Hague ending on Friday November 21st 2008.
