Century 21 Realty now on Saba

January 28, 2009

by Suzanne Nielsen, with permission of The Daily Herald.

Century 21, the world's largest real estate agency, now has representation on Saba. The new agent is long-time Saba hand Mike Myers, former owner of Saba Deep Dive Center.

The new office was christened at a welcoming reception held Monday afternoon at the Swinging Doors, which is adjacent to the new office of Century 21. The office will share space with the Saba Day Spa, which is run by Mike's wife Sally.

Mike said the timing was perfect for him to move into a new responsibility after a few months of retirement. This is the first time that Saba has had a major branded real estate agency on island, and Mike is delighted to represent Century 21. "We are not selling, we are promoting Saba as a place to live," Mike enthused.

Daunesh Alcott, president of operations at St. Maarten Island Realty Century 21 said that Century 21 is proud to represent the northeastern Caribbean with three offices on St. Maarten, one on Saba, and a soon-to-come fifth office on St. Kitts. Century 21 was recently voted number one real estate company for the second year by readers of The Daily Herald. With "more flags in the region" as Daunesh put it, customers will experience the professional expertise they have come to expect from the worldwide franchise. Century 21 staff make sure that comparable sales have been ascertained, that all property boundaries, deeds, and any other documentation is in perfect order for their clients, many of whom are working on their purchase while outside the Caribbean.

The Century 21 Internet link - www.century21islandrealty.com - receives 15,000 hits a month and will be a great way to sell Saba as a whole, as well as its properties, Mike said. The Century 21 web presence will soon carry links to other Saba sites.

Alcott has been with Century 21 for six years. He is optimistic about the market even in these unsure economic times. Saba is perceived as clean, quiet, organized, and accommodating to visitors, he said, and its uniqueness is a huge selling point.
