Saba's Director of Tourism Mr. Glenn Holm
left Saba on Monday morning for San Juan, Puerto Rico where he will be
attending the 9th annual American Airlines Caribbean Travel Exchange from
May 9th to 11th.
Mr. Holm told the SGIS that this exclusive American Airlines business
development event is one of the most effective and efficient promotion
activities of the year. Thee will be three events going on at the same time
Mr. Holm said. Suppliers will meet Tour Operator Buyers from worldwide
American Airlines markets during a 15 minute pre-scheduled appointments. the
supplier-Tour Operator business sessions will be held Tuesday afternoon from
2.00 p.m. until 6.00 p.m. the second event will be where 350 carefully
qualified Travel Agents almost all of them from the USA, attend destination
seminars, "How to sell" workshops, and the travel Exposition. Suppliers feel
these Travel Agents are professional, dedicated, and that they work hard
during the event. the final event will be where Tour Operators, Travel
Agents and suppliers get together at a Wednesday morning's TrAAvel
Exposition in a strictly business format featuring pre-scheduled
presentations. this format helps suppliers show and tell their products and
services in a professional environment.
Mr. Holm said that the Island Government of Saba has sponsored his trip to
attend the exchange and he is looking forward in representing Saba's
interest at the American Airlines Caribbean TrAAvel Exchange.
Before returning to the island Mr. Holm will be also attending the St.
Maarten/St. Martin Annual Regional Tradeshow which starts on St. Maarten on
May 12th until the 14th. Mr. Holm will be accompanied by Ms. Desiree Johnson
of the Tourism Department.
This is the 4th St. Maarten/St. Martin Annual Regional Tradeshow which is
sponsored by the St. Maarten Hospitality & Trade Association and Association
des Hoteliers de St. Martin. Mr. Holm said that SMART will include suppliers
from around the Caribbean region. We are also looking forward in
participating in this tradeshow to showcase our little island.
Both Mr. Holm and Ms. Johnson is expected back on Saba on Sunday.
