Fort Bay, Saba: Sunday afternoon many gathered at the Fort Bay harbor to witness the grand re-opening of Pop's Place. The establishment has undergone a total upgrade and many that were present were very surprised to see what and how the entire building has been upgraded. The brain behind the new look of the building was Mr. Donald Hassell. Several years ago Mr. Carlyle Granger better known to all as Pop's decided after retiring from his government position to have a little snack bar at the harbor and to also pass away the time meeting with people as well as the many tourist that came to the island by boat. His daughter Adelena Hassell and her husband Donald Hassell took over the business as of January of this year and spent several months upgrading the building and it has turned out to be a beautiful restaurant and bar at the harbor.
The building is completely air conditioned and will be open to cater to locals as well as tourist for lunch and dinner. Many persons that visited the location on Sunday afternoon that we spoke to said that they are happy that once again the place is open, it took a while but we are happy with what the owners has been able to accomplish with the new facility. It will be a good hang out place for many especially in the weekend and the facility will remain open until late during the weekend and will be catering to different types of events. On Sunday afternoon the facility was officially reopened with music being provided by "Power Sound System International.
Mr. Vick Phaiton is the Chef at Pop's Place and will be dishing out some tasty dishes to the public of Saba. Management said that they are happy to have been able to cater to the community on Sunday afternoon and the party went on until just after 9.00 p.m. We will try to operate a good business for the community of Saba and the many tourist that visit the island. We are open for business and we look forward in being able to serve everyone. We will be also open for private parties, receptions and any other events that we can offer.
